Day2: Meru / USA Forest Walking SafariListenelement 2The tour starts at the tree nursery where visitors learn about various activities of the Meru-Usa Forest Plantation, from planting to harvesting forest trees for timber. You will take a short “Silent – meditation Walk” in the forest plantation and then enter the natural forest on the slopes of Sambasha Hill, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding villages and the city of Arusha. Along the way you will encounter black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, forest antelopes and singing forest birds as well as beautiful mountain flowers. On the Silent Walk you will escape the stressful influences of everyday life. You will absorb nature with all your senses. Listen to the natural sounds and music of the surrounding nature: the melodic songs of the mountain forest birds, the throaty cries of the monkeys and the whispering of the wind. Breathe in the crisp fresh forest air and immerse yourself in the healing scent of beautiful flowers. Watch the butterflies as they decorate the forest. Let your mind become peaceful and calm. Be a part of nature!
-
Day 3: Tarangire NPListenelement 3Drive to the 2850 km² Tarangire National Park, through which the Tarangire River flows, which is constantly full of water. Here you can observe the large herds of elephants and other animals such as giraffes and buffalo. The park has even more to offer bird lovers: large flocks of colorful black-headed lovebirds, as well as red-tailed weavers and glossy starlings. Another attraction are the large ratites with their bushy plumage and long, thin necks - the Maasai ostriches. The landscape consists of grassland, especially on both sides of the river, open tree savannah and hills as well as rocky peaks with sparse vegetation. Baobab trees, the famous monkey bread trees that characterize the image of East Africa, are often found here.
-
Day 4: Mto wa mbu villageAfter a late breakfast, you go on a walking safari along the Great Rift Valley - the great East African Rift. The great geological history of continental drift is still taking place in this region today and extends far into Kenya. You visit the busy farming community of Mto Wa Mbu, which is home to around 18,000 people. You spend half a day here with a local guide. You will discover a side of Tanzania that many visitors do not know. The Mto Wa Mbu Village offers a rare experience for visitors. Around 120 tribes live in the village - it is an intercultural melting pot with probably the most exotic mix of languages and customs that can be found in Tanzania. You have an insight into local breweries and various farm projects.
-
Day 5: Lake NatronAfter breakfast, we continue to Lake Natron. This is located in the north of Tanzania on the border with Kenya in the East African Rift Valley. The area impresses with its isolation and dramatic scenery far away from the usual tourist routes. The strongly alkaline lake lies in the middle of an inhospitable, very dry and hot area and fascinates with its reddish color. Flamingos have found an ecological niche here. Unlike other animals, they cope well with the local conditions and feed mostly on the lake's algae, which make the water one of the most important breeding grounds for this bird. To the south of Lake Natron, the smoking Oldonyo Lengai towers - the "sacred mountain" of the Maasai. Mountain enthusiasts can try to climb the 2,960 m high peak, but this requires practice and good fitness. Other possible activities include hikes on the lake itself or to the Ngare Sero waterfalls. There are only two access routes: From the south along the Rift Valley there is a track to the region at Lake Manyara and west with many long hours of driving through the Loliondo Game Reserve to the Serengeti
-
Day 6: Lake NatronOn day 6, after a late breakfast at around 9:00, you will go on a walking safari past a few villages to a waterfall. From there you will have a wonderful view of Mount Oldonyo Lengai at 2878 m. The imposing peak is revered by the local tribes (Maasai people) as the sacred home of the gods.
-
Day 7: Drive to the SerengetiListenelement 4You have the opportunity to visit a Maasai village**. Enter the Serengeti National Park, spot lots of animals on the way to the camp. You spend the night in a tent camp, in so-called Hemingway tents with comfortable double beds, toilet and shower. At night you can hear the sounds of the animals passing close to the tents. A unique experience!
-
Day 8+9: SerengetiThe Serengeti is home to a fascinating variety of species: herds of wildebeest and buffalo, elephants, antelopes, giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos and a variety of birds. An extended game drive will show you the wild beauty.
-
Day 10: Ngorongoro KraterAnother game drive in the Serengeti on the way to the Ngorongoro Crater. You drive past the grave of Bernhard and Michael Grzimek on the edge of the crater, who have made great contributions to the preservation of African wildlife, especially in the Serengeti. Take a look from the edge of the crater into this extraordinary nature reserve! The Ngorongoro Crater is an extinct volcano that is several million years old. It has a diameter of around 20 km. With a lot of luck, you can see one of the few rhinos in Tanzania here. Drive down into the crater. Visit the so-called Hippo Pool. The name says it all: have fun watching the huge herds of hippos!
-
Day 11: Lake EyasiAfter breakfast, we will continue to Lake Eyasi at around 8:00 a.m. for a cultural walk through the surrounding villages. During this walk, you will visit the “Bushmen” from the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. You will visit the lake and go hunting with the “Bushmen”. You will learn about their way of life and survival and how they hunt and prepare their daily food needs.
-
Day 12: Lake ManyaraLake Manyara is home to a particularly large number of bird species. With a little luck, you can see tree-climbing lions here. If you want, you can also take a treewalk** in the treetops of the park. Return journey to Arusha.
-
Day 13: ArushaAfter a late breakfast, you will head to the city of Arusha. There you will visit the "Old Boma" of the Germans, which is now the National Natural Museum. You will visit the wood carving market, the large food market and the Arusha Monument. You will have lunch in the city.
-
Day 14: Kikuletwa / Chemka Hot SpringsAfter breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel at around 8:00. Then you will go on a 2-hour drive to the Chemka Hotsprings. The scenic drive, off the beaten track, gives you an insight into life here in the countryside. There are bustling markets and farms and small villages to see until you arrive at the hot springs. There you have time to spend several hours in the warm water of the springs. Slide into the water on a rope and then relax in the shade of the trees.
