Big 5 Africa Tours is backed by a team that loves and knows Africa. Based in Bobingen (Germany) and with our own safari company in Uganda (Big Five Car Rental Ltd.), we offer you first-hand security and expertise.

We believe that travel is more than just sightseeing. It's about understanding cultures and respecting nature. That's why we work exclusively with experienced local agencies in countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Madagascar.

In Uganda, we are also registered as a licensed tour operator with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB).


What sets us apart: Individuality instead of mass production

You won't find any standard, off-the-shelf group tours with us. We believe that Africa is best experienced individually.

  • ​Own roots in Uganda: With our own safari company “Big Five Car Rental Ltd.” on site in Uganda, we are there for you as a licensed tour operator (UTB).
  • ​Local expertise: In countries such as Kenya, Tanzania (including Zanzibar and Mafia Island), Rwanda and Madagascar, we work closely with long-standing local partners.
  • ​Personal support: Solo travelers are also very welcome. During your trip, you will receive excellent support from our experienced guides, and I am always available by phone as your contact person.

History:
Our story: Two friends, one passion
Big 5 Africa Tours was born out of a deep love and passion for the African continent.
We – Uli and Diana – found each other as colleagues who not only shared a passion for safaris but also the vision of sharing this magic with others. On countless trips together with our partners, we forged friendships and partnerships in many African countries, which today form the foundation of our work.

A difficult farewell & a promise
The year 2025 marks a profound turning point in our history. In a tragic car accident in May, my esteemed colleague and friend Diana was killed. It is an irreplaceable loss, but I have decided to continue Big 5 Africa Tours as the sole managing director – entirely in Diana's spirit and with the same dedication that connected us from the very beginning. Her spirit and her love for Africa will remain an integral part of every journey we plan.
